ML Soundlab will showcase one of my recent productions for ML Legends IR library.
I just created a new demo for the superb sounding ML USA Combos IR pack Mikko created! It's got blues, gospel and rock influences and it's in 3/4. It starts with only guitar chords and theme and in the next verse the theme is repeated with the backing of drums - bass - guitar and piano. I played all instruments resulting in an emotional song!
Here's the video Mikko created using my song:
Here are the Axe Fx II Presets I used for the sounds in the demo:
1. ML Brit Capt Hook (ML Brit Flattest Mix IR) - http://axechange.fractalaudio.com/detail.php?preset=5017
2. ML Brit C++ (ML Brit CB SM57-M160 IR) - http://axechange.fractalaudio.com/detail.php?preset=5019
3. ML Brit Xtc Blue (ML Brit 65 Mix IR) - http://axechange.fractalaudio.com/detail.php?preset=5018
4. ML Brit BE (ML Brit Modern Mix IR) - http://axechange.fractalaudio.com/detail.php?preset=5020
5. ML Brit C++ Lead (ML Brit CB SM57-M160 IR) - http://axechange.fractalaudio.com/detail.php?preset=5021
6. ML Brit HBE (ML Brit 65 Mix IR) - http://axechange.fractalaudio.com/detail.php?preset=5022
I'm currently working on my song Freedom again and I'm using the superb IRs from the ML Brit Collection II cabpack created by Mikko from ML Soundlab.
I thought I'd share a part of my song using these IRs to showcase how great they sound! This is all Axe Fx II using different amp models with my superb Fibenare Basic Jazz guitars!
The video contains screenshots from AxeEdit showing the IRs and amp model settings.
In the demo I'm also using Toontrack S2/EZD and Spectrasonics Trilian / Keyscape / Omnisphere 2
Ambient Chords - Part II (Wide stretch chords in the A dorian scale)
Ambient Chords - Part I (Inverted and extended 4th chords)
In this review I wanted to showcase how I would use The Crayon pedal in a song on bass and multiple guitars so you can get a good view on how versatile this pedal is.
A few weeks ago I was viewing CSI Cyber which aired a leader track from the Who called I can see for miles which was released in 1967. This inspired me to create the demo with parts of that song with a slightly dirtier mix. It's not about the technical playing here but how to create a well produced song that showcases The Crayon. In the detail part of the video I show most of the parts I made for it in detail except for the drums which are the from ToonTrack EZD for which I've been a beta tester for a very long time! Any comments are welcome!
It's been great to create some pedal reviews again! Especially working on my own tracks for these demos. The style of Andy Timmons comes close to what I prefer to play and create musically. I really love the tracks I'm working on now, as well as for the JHS AT pedal demo and the Carl Martin Compressor demo. The track in this demo will be extended into a track that will be featured on my upcoming album in 2016. This part was inspired by the great Allen Holdsworth and I'm sure you'll like what I came up with!
It's been a while since I've created video reviews for pedals and other gear. I've agreed to work for JHS Pedals to demonstrate their new releases. I really think Josh and his team create killer pedals that you should check out at http://www.jhspedals.com!
Here's a video to showcase the stereo spread of the Axe Fx II rotary block. I've used rotary settings as suggested by forum user Simeon.
Warm lead (medium gain overdrive from my Jan Ray clone with Zen drive clipping)
Check the description of the video for more information about the pickup position or combination used.
Here's a quick comparison video between the Neo Instruments Mini Vent, Strymon Mobius and Fractal Audio Axe Fx II. Rotaries are played clean and with drive on in mono and stereo. Hope this helps to choose between rotaries. ;)
Here's also a rectification of the stereo rotary block of the Axe Fx II. A new audio recording using Simeon suggested settings (low depth 21%, high depth 40%, rotor length 80%, LF spacing 0%, HF spacing 50%, drive 6). The second part has the drive set higher to 8.9.
